Project Resistance Will Put a Bit of a Spin on Asymmetric Multiplayer

Project Resistance PS4 Play Station 4 2

With Resident Evil 2 Remake Capcom took one step forward and with the latest announcement, they have taken two steps backwards, according to the fans.

Capcom's been raining down hype for its Resident Evil-themed multiplayer spin-off Project Resistance, but it doesn't look like you'll need an Umbrella. The team behind the Onimusha: Warlords rerelease, NeoBards Entertainment, is leading development on the 4v1 title for Capcom.

To stop the Survivors in their tracks, the Mastermind can place obstacles like traps, summon vicious creatures or weaponise security cameras. The Mastermind plots a deadly course by wielding a strategic deck of cards to create unsafe obstacles for the Survivors, such as summoning vicious creatures, setting traps, manipulating the environment, and weaponizing security cameras. That said, it is also possible to control zombies for a limited time, when you must get up close and personal.

Four of these players step into the shoes of the Survivors while the fifth player takes control of the Mastermind.

Meanwhile, the Survivors have to work together to fend off the Mastermind's attacks, complete puzzles and escape the map before the timer runs out. If you want in on the console action, you can get details on how to sign up at the official site.

In each match the Survivors work together to try and escape an insidious experiment that the Mastermind has set up. Each Survivor possesses unique skills to help their team overcome the Mastermind's challenges and survive the sinister experiment.

It turns out that Project Resistance is not a successor to Resident Evil: Outbreak (seriously, why Capcom?) but rather, Capcom's attempts at bringing the series into a Dead by Daylight-style setting. A release date has not been revealed yet.
