Hailee Steinfeld, who most recently starred opposite a giant computer robot masquerading as a crappy vehicle in Bumblebee, is joining another major franchise: Variety reports that Steinfeld has signed on to star in Hawkeye, one of a handful of new series Marvel is developing for Disney+. In the Marvel Comics, Kate Bishop is a woman with serious combat and marksmanship skills who becomes the leader of the Young Avengers and, eventually, takes up the mantel of Hawkeye in honor of her teacher.

Kate is a member of the Younger Avengers and will probably be seen on display taking on the mantle of Hawkeye from Clint Barton after the occasions of Avengers: Endgame. Now Variety is reporting that Steinfeld may have the role. Back at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Marvel Boss Kevin Feige didn't say much about Kate Bishop, but did promise to "explore more of [Clint Barton's] time as Ronin". We still don't know who will be playing the other Hawkeye but if Marvel Studios has their way, they would get Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse star Hailee Steinfeld. She also starred in Bumblebee, the first critically-acclaimed Transformers movie. Having said that, when it's reported by the trades, the deals more often than not end up going through, which means Steinfeld joining the MCU is a likely scenario. She'll also star as Emily Dickinson in Apple TV+'s Dickinson.

The Disney+ series will feature her opposite Jeremy Renner, confirmed The Hollywood Reporter.

In addition to Hawkeye, the Marvel Studios Phase Four series also include The Falcon and The Winter Soldier (Fall 2020), WandaVision (Spring 2021), Loki (Spring 2021), and What If...?
