Funeral Held for Teen Killed by Israeli Troops During Gaza Protests

Netanyahu warns of ‘forceful response’ after Palestinians launch rockets and attack drone

The projectile triggered sirens in the Eshkol region of southern Israel.

According to him, the Egyptian mediators will discuss a number of issues in the Gaza Strip, including "ways to alleviate the suffering" of the enclave and Israel's commitment to implementing the arrangements. "It did not cross into Israeli territory", the army said.

"The recent visit of a Hamas delegation to Cairo was positive, and today the Egyptian delegation arrived in the enclave to complete the negotiations", Qanoa said.

The Israeli strikes late Saturday came after two days of cross-border fire in which two Palestinian teenagers were killed. It did not specify if the explosive detonated, but said a military vehicle was lightly damaged in the incident.

There were no reports of injuries and no Palestinian group claimed responsibility for the rockets on Friday.

Israel Defense Forces troops were not injured from the drone attack and later confirmed there was slight damage to a military vehicle.

Addressing the latest escalation, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had been updated on the events and blamed Gaza's rulers, Hamas.

"Hamas is responsible for all aggression emanating from the Gaza Strip. Any attempt to harm our citizens and our soldiers will be met with a forceful response", Netanyahu declared in a statement on Saturday, according to Times of Israel.

The weekend saw a string of violent incidents along the Gaza border, after several weeks of relative calm.

In response, an Israeli "aircraft targeted the squad which launched the drone", the army said.

Two Palestinians, including a teenager, were killed on Friday by Israeli gunfire during protests along the Israel-Gaza perimeter fence, the Gaza Strip's health authorities said.

The Hamas-run health ministry identified one of those killed as 17-year-old Ali al-Ashqar.

"Israel's conflict with the terrorist organizations in Gaza is close to reaching the tipping point thanks to Iranian influence", said Katz.

Israeli forces declined to comment on the deaths.

Three 13-year-olds crossed over from the southern Gaza Strip and a search revealed a knife, the army said in a statement. It has rolled back such moves following decreases in violence.

Hamas says Israel doesn't honor the agreement.
