Fox News apologises to Greta Thunberg for pundit's 'disgraceful' remark

Hailing from Sweden, Greta Thunberg has fastly made a name for herself as arguably the most visible climate activist in the world.

Her imperious "How dare you?" to world leaders at the United Nations cemented Swedish teen Greta Thunberg's role as her generation's leading spokeswoman on climate change, the culmination of a year of dogged relentlessness, say those who know her.

Dr Michael Carr-Gregg said he was extremely concerned. "I want you to listen to the scientists", she urged the US Congress last week.

Following her latest global strike that took place this past weekend - her biggest to date with an estimated four million people who participated worldwide, including 300,000 in NY - she addressed the crowd saying she had "some very bad news" for the "people who are threatened by us", speaking to the opposers of her government-led fossil emission rollback. You'll never win. You'll look old as fuck. Therefore, these comments only help the rest of us to confirm, that there is a part of society who actively does not care for others.

To that end, Greta Thunberg has gone deeply shady in firing the final shot in her on-going stoush with USA grandfather Donald Trump. Shame has become an antiquated emotion and a useless one.

Many of us live in blissful ignorance about the state of the world.

It's a bit unclear, however, what Fox News was apologizing for, since Knowles' argument is just a blunter version of what all their pundits have said about Thunberg.

The past few years have produced a rash of books explaining how women's anger is historically belittled while men's is seen as worthy of empathy.

But I don't think that explains all of the reactions.

But many of Thunberg's critics aren't cruel. He received death threats. I guess they must simply feel so threatened by us. They don't need our votes; they're not elected officials.

These attacks speak to conservatives' dependence on irrational social hierarchies that determine who is "right" or "wrong" not by virtue of evidence or reason, but based on who has more social power due to age, gender or social class. Thunberg and her youth activist cohort strike fear into the hearts of right-wingers precisely because they have uncovered the lie that age automatically grants wisdom. This is what you would say, too, if you weren't beholden to donors or viewers, if you didn't have to muster the right soundbites for your next re-election campaign, if you weren't afraid of sacrificing some of your personal comfort for the greater good. "How dare you!" she added. Greta Thunberg is the lightning rod that makes it possible. "Being different is not an illness, and the current, best available science is not opinions - it's facts" Greta tweeted. Not to let everyone die.

"They would have seen and heard her and she would have come across as thoughtful and effective". It marked the biggest environmental protest in history, as millions of people across the world called for governments to take more decisive action against the growing climate crisis.
