Detroit Lions vs Arizona Cardinals

Matt Prater made a 33-yard field goal with 3:48 remaining in overtime to help the Detroit Lions salvage a 27-27 tie with the Arizona Cardinals, who overcame an 18-point fourth-quarter deficit Sunday in Glendale, Ariz. The team blew a 24-6 lead to a rookie quarterback in Arizona, a game that ended in a 27-27 tie.

Murray citing defensive lineman Damon Harrison's absence is interesting.

Murray finished 29-of-54 for 308 yards with two touchdowns and an interception for a 77.1 passer rating. Josh Johnson threw for 157 yards and a touchdown on 9 of 15 passing while also rushing for a touchdown as well while Mark Thompson led the Lions with 35 rushing yards. Furthermore, head coach Kliff Kingsbury took responsibility for his playcalling throughout the game.

The Cardinals managed just 100 yards of total offense in the first three quarters but gained 287 in the fourth quarter and overtime. He was targeted nine times resulting in 4 receptions for 42 yards and a touchdown.

Arizona's Fitzgerald, in his 16th National Football League season, finished with eight catches for 113 yards.

Much was made about the Lions selecting a tight end in the first round of the draft a year ago, but Hockenson proved it was the right move.

The offense hasn't gotten much better for the Cardinals but the defense forces two straight three-and-outs.

While Murray and Kingsbury are starting from scratch, Matt Patricia is entering the second year of his rebuild with the Lions. The touchdowns included a 47-yard strike to Danny Amendola in the 2nd quarter, a 9-yard TD to Kenny Golladay, and a 23-yard touchdown pass to TJ Hockenson.

The Lions strike with a big play.

For three quarters, it looked like a desert disaster.

"We knew they were trying to get out of bounds, but when the ball did come, my eyes popped open wide", Brock said.

Most noticeably, the Lions had big chunks on the ground, keeping the ball moving on first and second down. The Cardinals defense is strong, allowing only 43 yards on 10 plays but it starts at the 20 instead of inside the five-yard line. Both teams finished last in their respective divisions and are looking to start off this year 1-0. However, a Chandler Jones strip sack of Matthew Stafford keeps them from capitalizing. Defensively, the Cardinals combined for 3 interceptions and a forced fumble while Vontarrius Dora had a sack and Nate Brooks and Dennis Gardeck recording a team-high 6 tackles with Brooks registering one interception and the previously mentioned forced fumble.
