Guerin, 48, becomes the fourth general manager in Wild franchise history and the second plucked from the Penguins organization after Chuck Fletcher. He'll take over for Paul Fenton, who was shockingly fired in late July after just one season running the club. He retired in 2010 and won two more Stanley Cups with the Penguins as an executive. The team winning comes first and foremost, and that's it.
After the introduction, Guerin stopped to talk with FOX 9's Jim Rich about why he sought the Wild job and what excites him about building a victor in the State of Hockey.
"It was the other portion of being a general manager, the organizational part, the strategic part, the management of people, the hiring and motivating of the departments", Leipold said.
Now, less than nine years removed from his playing days, Guerin will have a shot to be the lead man in Minnesota.
He also hoisted two Stanley Cups during an 18-season playing career (1991-2010) with eight National Hockey League teams, winning championships with the 1994-95 New Jersey Devils and the 2008-09 Penguins.
A power forward who was never afraid to drive to the net, Guerin racked up 856 points and 1,660 penalty minutes in a 1,263-game career that included stops with New Jersey, Edmonton, Boston, Dallas, St. Louis, San Jose, Pittsburgh and the New York Islanders. He also played for the United States in three Olympic Games - 1998, 2002 and 2006. "I like a lot of the pieces that we have", Guerin told Dan Myers of Wild.com. He was a restricted free agent. He was the 5th overall draft pick in the 1989 NHL Draft.
McIlroy not convinced by new FedEx Cup format
Patrick Cantlay will start in second on eight under, while Brooks Koepka will tee off in third place on seven under. Starting scores then work on a sliding scale down to the players in 26th to 30th, who begin on level par.

Netanyahu hints at Israeli involvement in Iraq blasts
The tacit acknowledgment came as Israeli military authorities had previously threatened to attack the Iraqi anti-terror force. The July 19 attack hit a militia base in Amirli, in Iraq's northern Salaheddin province, causing a huge explosion and fire.
