Oakland Raiders: Players with rising stock, falling stock after Preseason Week 3

Paul Bretl of Dairyland Express writes about three players who are trending up, and three players who are trending down following Thursday's preseason game.

As a result, and with the start of the NFL regular season just two weeks away, both teams made a decision to rest many of their star players for the league's first game in Canada in almost six years.

The stadium normally hosts the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League, and the previous Thursday had hosted a CFL game before reconfiguring the field to NFL specifications.

But because of safety concerns due to the turf and patches in the end zone as a result of goal post removal, head coach Jon Gruden sat 41 players including all of the starters outside of punter A.J. Cole, kicker Daniel Carlson, linebacker Brandon Marshall, and defensive tackle Maurice Hurst. One of those players was starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was vocal about the field by saying that he didn't sit out because of back tightness, but because "it's more the field conditions that we had tonight".

However, Aaron Rodgers will likely end up not playing a single snap throughout preseason play.

Oakland didn't play starters including quarterback Derek Carr or receiver Antonio Brown.

Packers quarterback Tim Boyle said he checked out a turf-covered spot during warmup.

Let's just be honest and say Kizer is not very good.

You want to have your mind bent on a Friday morning?

"Just kept my same mindset that I'm going to go in there and have probably 30-40 plays".

"I'm not going to make a big deal about the field". We like the field. Shepherd continued to wow the Packers with tremendous sideline grabs and strong hands along with fundamentally sound special teams play (I think we can forgive him for the holding penalty). Brown might have just come to a screeching halt after the latest reports suggest the Green Bay Packers wide receiver and special teams asset could miss more than a month.

HBO's "Hard Knocks" apparently didn't have enough material for next week's show, so the National Football League did producers a favor by making a laughingstock out of Thursday's preseason game between the Packers and Raiders. The team is planning to move to Las Vegas in 2020.

Boyle found both Trevor Davis and Jake Kumerow in the artificial end zone for his two touchdown passes, with running back Tra Carson scoring the third touchdown on the ground.

The Raiders' Nathan Peterman threw two touchdown passes, including a 17-yarder to De'Mornay Pierson-El in the fourth quarter that cut Green Bay's lead to 21-19. His 2-point conversion attempt was intercepted.
