Mike Perry in hospital after UFC Uruguay fight

Mike Perry's Broken Nose is Gnarly

The two fighters fell to the canvas as Luque attempted a front choke while a deluge of blood flowed from Perry's nose onto Luque's chest and all over the mat.

"Platinum" Mike Perry won't soon forget his trip to Montevideo to fight South American star Vicente Luque after the American found himself on the receiving end of what some fans are calling the "worst" broken nose in UFC history.

"If you've ever been tempted to get into MMA, just take a look at what happened to Mike Perry's nose after his #UFCUruguay fight against Vicente Luque", one of the tweets read. Luque called out Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson for a fight in his post-fight interview, and it appears it's a fight the UFC is considering booking.

One good news for Perry in spite of a nasty injury is that, it was announced that both fighters walked away with an additional $50,000 from the Fight of the Night award. But it was the damage Perry sustained that saw him go viral at the conclusion of the fight.

Perry (13-5 MMA, 6-5 UFC) came out on the wrong end of a split decision against Luque (17-6-1 MMA, 10-2 UFC) in the welterweight co-headliner Saturday, but he left the octagon with more than a loss.

Perry underwent successful nose surgery in Uruguay on Sunday, his manager Abraham Kawa told ESPN. It was a lengthy surgery since Perry had previous fractures in his nose that needed to be taken care of, ESPN reported. He expected to remain in Uruguay for at least a couple days.
