Ivorian Musician DJ Arafat dies in road crash

Ange Didier Huon, an Ivorian singer, known as DJ Arafat is dead. The road crash that killed Arafat occurred on Sunday night but he died on Monday morning.

Per what we gathered, he had been driving a motorbike and he smashed it into a vehicle. He was critically injured in the accident and later passed away after being transferred to an Abidjan hospital.

Ivorian Culture Minister Maurice Kouakou Bandaman gave his condolences to DJ Arafat's family and fans, adding that he planned to pay homage to his life and career. Fellow Ivory Coat musician Ickx Fontaine told AFP that the country was in shock.

Later on Monday, around 1,000 fans gathered, weeping and chanting "Arafat can not die" in front of the hospital in Abidjan s Cocody suburb where the singer died, AFP reporters at the scene said.


During his lifetime, DJ Arafat was known for his dance-provoking sounds and energetic stage performances.

He was born in the music world.

"He had a natural charisma", said Ozone, a hip hop producer and television host.
