Google Assistant takes on the sticky note with assignable reminders

Google Assistant new feature

That can get pretty tedious - but Google Assistant may have a better solution, with the announcement that the voice assistant can now assign reminders to different people in your household.

For the feature to work, the person will have to either be part of your Google family group or have their accounts linked to the same smart speaker or display as you. Now, if only Google could manage to unify the entirely separate task management systems it offers through Google Keep and Google Tasks, it'd be in great shape. And he adds that those enamored of Assistant's assistance may choose simply to send kind words, because affirmations voiced by machine can really make one's day. "In addition, you have the control to block anyone from sending you reminders at any time through the new Assignable reminders section in Assistant Settings".

With assignable reminders, you can create a reminder for other people in your home by talking to Assistant. As of right now, there is no way to do so via a smart speaker or a smart display, though Google is apparently working on this for the future.

In brief: Most people remind family members or housemates of something via text or messaging services, or for those who are more old-school, post-it notes.

Called Assignable Reminders, the latest Google Assistant feature will let you assign reminders to friends and family with just a voice command. Additionally, the recipient must be in the sender's Google's Contacts.

To assign a reminder, ask your Assistant, "Hey Google, remind Greg to take out the trash at 8pm". You could send a reminder like, "Hey Google, remind Sarah that she is going to crush her presenation at work tomorrow." .

For now, the feature will only roll out to English-speaking users in the US, UK and Australia.
