"Our message to the public is that West Nile virus is here, but it is preventable", Dr. Joe Iser, the Health District's chief health officer, said in a statement.
West Nile comes with a few, distinct symptoms that include fever, weakness, muscle pain, and headaches.
Sherman, who is a Lethbridge resident, stresses he does not know exactly where his wife contracted the virus, but confirms she did visit Coaldale during that time period as well as other places.
Sherman says he is encouraged by steps taken by AHS to share West Nile warnings this year directly with 60 municipalities in the region instead of relying on third-hand social media sharing and canned press releases about the general dangers of the disease.
To prevent mosquito bites, people should wear light-colored, long-sleeve shirts and trousers and use insect repellant with the active ingredients of DEET, Picaridin, IR3535, oil lemon eucalyptus and 2-undercanone, the Health District said.
"We have not had any confirmed cases of West Nile virus in Alberta yet in 2019", she said. "That is one of the things I wanted drive home".
Patriots, Brady agree on extension
Field Yates of ESPN and Ian Rapoport of NFL Media were the first to report that Brady and New England were close to a new deal. The third-oldest player in the league, behind only a pair of kickers, has said his goal is to keep playing until he's 45, too.
