Arsenal finally reach an agreement with Chelsea over signing of David Luiz

Arsenal look set to seal the deadline day transfer of David Luiz for £8m after the Gunners struck a deal with Chelsea to move the defender across London, while club scapegoat Shkodran Mustafi is being linked with a switch to Ligue 1.

After a relatively quiet few months at Stamford Bridge, bombshell reports emerged yesterday that the Brazil global was angling for a move.

The Gunners will pay £7m for Luiz, who will sign a two-year deal.

Should David Luiz depart the club, it nearly guarantees that Zouma will remain put.

Arsenal have reportedly agreed a fee of £25m to sign the left-back from Celtic and he is expected to undergo a medical today after travelling to London.

But Luiz was furious that he was not considered a starter and was told to train with the reserves.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have been in the market for a new centre-back following a poor season at the back in 2018-19 and former captain Laurent Koscielny's move to Bordeaux has only furthered the need for reinforcements.

Arsenal have held also held talks with Red Bull Leipzig for Dayot Upamecano and were said to be interested in Daniele Rugani from Juventus.

Website UOL says the defender has an offer to join the Gunners, and now waits for a positive sign from the Blues so he can make the move.

Fears over regular playing time at Stamford Bridge appeared to have swayed Luiz into leaving Frank Lampard's side, while Ornstein also adds that Kieran Tierney's move to Arsenal will be a £25m deal on a five-year contract.

The Scotland global is due to arrive in London later on Thursday to sign a five-year deal.
