Alisson out 'the next few weeks' with calf injury

Liverpool's UEFA Super Cup squad: Fabinho, Van Dijk, Wijnaldum, Milner, Keita, Firmino, Mane, Salah, Gomez, Adrian, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana, Lonergan, Shaqiri, Brewster, Robertson, Origi, Matip, Hoever, Kelleher, Alexander-Arnold, Elliott.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has vowed to wrap new boy Adrian in cotton wool as he looks to avoid what would be another damaging injury to a goalkeeper.

Liverpool will be forced to call upon summer signing Adrian during that time period, following his free transfer from West Ham United.

Alisson started in goal for Liverpool's opening PL victory over Norwich.

"[It's] not too cool", he told about the Brazilian.

It's best for both him and Liverpool that the pair make a clean break - just imagine the pressure that the stopper would be under if he was charged with keeping the clean sheets to take the Reds to their first title in 30 years. This is our next opportunity to do so and it'd be great if we can take it.

The Spaniard is expected to retain his position between the Reds' sticks until Alisson returns to training next month, with our televised trip to Anfield on September 14 a fixture he may be able to return for.

"I saw already like "six weeks" and stuff like this, but Ali was not a lot injured in his career so I would like to wait a little bit to see how he develops in that process now, but he is not in for the next few weeks".

"He was in with us, he's a brilliant character, a really nice lad and helped us a lot in the pre-season, and now we made a decision to work together with him".

Fans of the reigning European Champions have been waiting on tenterhooks to find out the exact prognosis of the injury, with Klopp confirming that their number one will be sidelined for at least a couple of weeks. We spoke a lot about the goalie situation apart from what we have to do [on Wednesday]!

"We can not now do the hardest training with him every day and stuff like this, we have to make him match fit every day, that's how it is".
