Xiaomi's Mi A2 could be about to get an upgrade

On July 11, MySmartPrice leaked the specifications of Mi A3 and Mi A3 Lite.

A day after a massive leak seemingly revealed several key pieces of information about the Mi A3, Xiaomi has released its first official teaser about its next-gen Android One device. Xiaomi did not specify the models, but the "Mi A series" term is an indication that the company might launch more than one phone soon, possibly the Mi A3 and the Mi A3 Lite. Last week, a Xiaomi phone listed on FCC was speculated as the Xiaomi Mi A3.

The company has so far launched Mi A1 and Mi A2 smartphones in this lineup and now its time for the third-generation of Mi A-series smartphone - Mi A3.

Xiaomi has an upcoming launch happening in the country next week, the Redmi K20 series.

Xiaomi's Mi A-series is the only smartphone lineup from the Chinese company that's a part of Google's Android One program and runs the stock Android operating system with minor changes. As per the publication, the Xiaomi Mi A3 has been codenamed "bamboo_sprout", and it will feature a Snapdragon 730 SoC. There are two phones launched - Mi CC9 and Mi CC9e. There is no confirmation regarding those details or launch date either. The phone is tipped to pack a 48-megapixel primary rear camera with an f/1.79 aperture that will be assisted by an 8-megapixel and a 2-megapixel sensor. On a separate note, the smartphone is said to include a 4,000mAh battery, fast charge support via the USB-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Furthermore, the Mi A2 had a fingerprint scanner on its back but the Mi A3 doesn't have one, which implies it's likely embedded in the screen. It's noticeably smaller than the notch used on the budget Mi A2 Lite previous year but still large enough to house one front-facing camera which, per the accompanying spec sheet, will offer a 32-megapixel resolution.
