Google to update the News tab to emphasise on headlines

Google Will Launch New Tab for Google News

Google plans to reveal an overhauled News tab which enhances prominence for publishers rather than headlines.

The updated News tab will be rolling out to users around the world in the coming weeks.

"Over the next couple weeks we're rolling out a redesigned News tab in Search on desktop", it wrote. The tweet also features a video of the redesigned search results of Google News.

It is worth noting that the new layout, as Google states, will help clearly outline related news articles which will make it easier for news enthusiast to circumnavigate around topics they love and discover more. Google also shared a GIP of this new design in this post.

Google announced the upcoming change in a tweet via Google News Initiative account.

Right now, Google's News tab aggregates a bunch of news stories together in a list that's basically created to fit as many links on the screen at once. Right now, the results are separated into different sections and it's frankly quite cluttered, but the new interface addresses that issues by introducing independent cards that allow News to emphasize the publisher name.

The new update will add a particular link about news as a card. This will be followed by a description of the headline and news at the bottom. But anxiety over digital news has grown in recent years, with publishers anxious by diminishing revenue and experts warning about the proliferation of low-quality sources.

You can also click on each card to see the preview of the story.
