Gone Rogue: at Least 17 Injured at UK 'Car Cruise' Event

14 injured after 2 car crash in Stevenage - Heart Four Counties

Video of the crash shows one auto pull out onto the road and clip a second vehicle, sending both cars into a crowd of people lining the highway.

In July 2015, some 17 people were injured when a Ford Fiesta ploughed into a group of bystanders at a auto cruise event in Plymouth, Devon.

At least 17 people have been injured, some seriously, after a crash involving two cars at a "cruise" event created to raise money for bereaved families.

A sign appeals for witnesses at the scene of a crash on Thursday night involving two cars during a gathering of vehicle enthusiasts in Stevenage, England, Friday July 19, 2019.

A Hertfordshire Police spokeswoman said: "There were a number of people in the area at the time and 14 people are presently being treated for injuries, some of which are serious".

"Unfortunately this incident means we are all going to be tarred with the same brush - people will say we are boy racers".

Police asked witnesses with footage of the crash to send it to detectives.

Mr Sidhu told PA a small number of cars "went rogue" and left the auto park, where crowds lined the main road to capture footage of the vehicles at speed.

Mr Sidhu said organisers urged people not to go out on roads, but some "went a bit rogue".

In a statement on Facebook he said they would not be organising any more such events. I literally had to pull my mate out of the way. It's not something I'd like to relive again. We don't know when there coming, where there coming or what numbers they're going to be in and that makes it a very hard event to police and make sure people are kept safe. "[But] it's not an easy thing to regulate", he added.
