Apple Kills Off the Last Non-Touchbar MacBook Pros, Discounts MacBook Air

While some might lament the death of Apple's lightest computer (personally, I was eyeing the next 12-inch to be my next laptop), to Apple's credit the thought process has become much simpler. The 2017 MacBook air is now discontinued in the process.

Well, it looks like Apple is subtly pushing customers towards the iPad Pro and the upcoming iPad OS, which promises to be more laptop-esque in terms of functionality. Under the program, users who experience abnormal behaviour on the MacBook Air or MacBook Pro's keyboard are eligible for service free of charge.

The tech giant on Tuesday announced a number of updates and - more importantly - pocket-friendlier prices for itsMacBookAirnotebook. The company said that True Tone has been added to the device's Retina display for a more natural viewingexperience, and prices have been lowered to Dh4,699.

To go along with its stunning screen, the new MacBook Air also has improved sound, with more bass and louder volume than previous models.

The latest MacBook Pro comes with the new 8th generation Intel Core quad core processors and according to some benchmarks this new notebook gets a serious speed bump. It also now features the TouchBar navigation panel, Touch ID, True Tone Retina display and the Apple T2 Security Chip.

The new 13-inch MacBook Pro starts from £1,299. At present, Apple doesn't offer a quad-core processor option for the MacBook Air. United States college students get a special price starting at $1,200.

In anticipation of that rush of students looking to buy MacBooks for the year ahead, Apple has updated the 13-inch MacBook Air and the 13-inch MacBook Pro.

If all you're going to do be doing is checking emails, writing documents and watching Netflix, get a MacBook Air.

Apple's back-to-school promotion is available tohigher education students, their parents, faculty, staff and home-schoolteachers through the Apple Education Store.
