Celtics waive fan favorite which may open door for Tacko Fall

Grant Williams Tacko Fall

After a season playing in the Chinese Basketball Association, Yabusele came over to the NBA despite the team preferring he remain overseas honing his craft for another year.

- First, further roster changes sounds somewhat ominous, but the most likely scenario is that this gives the Celtics a chance to take a couple of extra swings before the start of the season. Only Jaylen Brown remains on the Boston roster. He missed Tuesday's game against the Nuggets with what the team said was an injury to his pinkie finger, and after the game coach Scott Morrison indicated that he would probably miss the rest of summer league action.

After multiple seasons training with and playing for Boston, Yabusele continued to look like a deer in headlights even in this year's Summer League, unable to reproduce the relatively healthy outings at lower levels of play. But it's unrealistic that Fall would make almost the same impact in the National Basketball Association, so it would still be a bit of a surprise if they granted him a spot on the 15-man roster.

The following are three role players that Boston could add on a veteran's minimum contract. The 7-foot-6 center has had a strong summer league for the 3-0 Celtics. And on Tuesday the team filled its other two-way slot by agreeing to a deal with Tremont Waters, the 51st overall pick of the draft.

- The fan-favorite option: Convert Waters to a guaranteed deal from his two-way and sign Fall to a two-way deal.
