Vikings signing TE Rudolph to 4-year extension

The Vikings reached a four-year deal with tight end Kyle Rudolph on Monday night ending weeks of uncertainty

Kyle Rudolph is not yet prepared to leave Minnesota.

Rudolph signed a four-year deal worth $36 million with the Vikings, which has him under contract through the 2023 season, according to multiple media reports.

Rudolph posted on Twitter Monday night (June 10) that Minnesota has been his home and that it will continue to be. "Now I have the opportunity to just go out and focus on football and do what I've done my entire life". If he sees something, he'll let me know, and if I make a good play, he'll let me know.

"Marrying my wife and establish [ing] our home ... in Minnesota". Experiencing the birth of my 3 handsome Minnesota.

"Giving everything I can possibly give, professionally and personally to the greatest sports franchise and its fans in Minnesota", he wrote. Watson will be suspended for the first four games of the season due to a positive PEDs test he took immediately after coming out of retirement to sign with the Patriots.

He also mentioned how the Vikings were so close to getting to the Super Bowl in 2017 and how that experience will motivate him even more for the future.

The Minnesota Vikings weren't willing to part with Kyle Rudolph despite their lack of salary cap space, and the ninth-year tight end sure didn't want to leave. His catch rate of 78% was the best in his career.

The move comes weeks after the Vikings selected Alabama tight end Irv Smith the second round of the draft, with the 50th overall pick. Throughout the offseason program, coaches have relayed the importance of the roles both tight ends will play in Minnesota's offense. "Now, nine years in, and under contract through my 13th year, I hope I'm the same way".
