Oppo recently began sending out media invites for an event where the company teased the official reveal of its under-display camera technology.
In the latest development, Oppo has dropped another teaser of the under-display camera smartphone, which would be revealed first on June 26.
At the beginning of this month, OPPO surprised the smartphone industry by showing off a protype of its in-display camera technology. Oppo will showcase its under-display camera technology at MWC Shanghai on June 26. Hours after Oppo teased a prototype test video of its under-display smartphone, Xiaomi dropped a video showcasing its smartphone with the hidden camera under the display.
You can check out the teaser video below (pulled from Weibo) to see that the prototype smartphone that Oppo will show off is going to be nearly bezel-less. The 15-second video shows the evolution of full-screen displays, starting from 16:9 screens to fin-like pop-up panel as seen on the recent Oppo Reno 10x. Due to the current challenges, he stated that it is hard to mass produce the tech in large quantities, as per a report by 91Mobiles. However, the in-display camera technology is all about embedding the front camera under the display of the phone. It is also where we will learn when the Chinese giant plans to release a commercially available phone with their under-screen camera. If you don't need it, you can enjoy a full edge to edge display experience. A day ahead of the MWC Shanghai 2019, OPPO VP Brian Shen took to Weibo to state that the image quality of the in-screen camera technology may not be good.
