Now 292-inches and 8K

Samsung’s The Wall Luxury 8K TV launches next month and you can’t afford it

"Throughout the last twelve months, we've closely monitored interior design and technology trends to shape the product planning and development of The Wall Luxury", said Seog-gi Kim, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.

Samsung first introduced the 146-inch Wall TV at CES 2018.

With 8K content still a little thin on the ground, and even 4K content likely to have some rough edges at 292 inches, The Wall Luxury features AI upscaling, along with Quantum HDR technology for peak brightness of 2,000 nits and a 120-Hz refresh rate. What was first launched as a commercial product is now getting a consumer version, almost a year after Samsung announced that such a model was in the works.

The display comes equipped with an AI picture quality engine, called Quantum Processor Flex, to bring optimized image quality scene-by-scene. On the high end, Samsung says that The Wall Luxury can be built out to become an eye-watering 292-inches in size while outputting in 8K resolution.

Samsung is claiming a 100,000-hour lifetime for the display's LEDs, which works out to about 11.4 years if you leave the display on 24 hours a day - and that's just what Samsung expects, saying "The Wall is created to never turn off". A customizable décor frame is also included, allowing the screen to better match a user's particular room.

This delivers optimised picture quality scene-by-scene, regardless of the original source format. "When the screen is not used, the Ambient Mode can display a variety of curated art from paintings, photographs, and video art to customizable pictures with digital frames-that best suit the homeowner's tastes".

Additionally, Samsung worked with Harman Luxury Audio and Steinway Lyngdorf to offer unmatched audio solutions; Control4, Crestron, and Savant for home automation; and Domotz, Ihiji, and OrvC for remote monitoring capabilities. You can imagine that it will be anything but cheap.
