Most recently, Biden's sudden about-faces on the Hyde Amendment, which blocks the use of federal funds for abortions, and the US' relationship with China have confused voters who aren't sure what (if anything) he stands for, spawning a new nickname from President Donald Trump: "Floppy Joe".

US President Donald Trump will face off with Democrat Joe Biden in Iowa as the pair hold competing rallies in the key swing state.

"I'd rather run against Biden than anybody", Trump told reporters on the White House lawn before flying to Iowa.

(Washington Examiner) Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has received a wave of backlash for promising to finding a cure to cancer if he is elected in 2020.

If elected, Biden would be 78 at the time of his inauguration - the oldest president to ever take office, according to Politico. Biden later said he didn't mean Trump was literally an existential threat, he just liked the way it sounded when he used big words like literally and existential until he found out what literally and existential literally mean then it just sounded virtually stupid.

Mr Biden is campaigning again in Iowa on Wednesday, this time without Mr Trump in the state.

Democratic presidential candidate former Vice President Joe Biden greets supporters after a town hall meeting, Tuesday, June 11, 2019, in Ottumwa, Iowa.

"I guess he's really fascinated by me", Mr Biden said. The former vice president hit Trump on the economy - an issue the president often promotes as his chief strength in a time of low unemployment. He's beginning his trip in Council Bluffs to tour and speak at Southwest Iowa Renewable Energy, which produces and sells the corn-based fuel additive ethanol, before addressing an Iowa GOP dinner in Des Moines. Supporters of the deal, which is an update to the North American Free Trade Agreement, feared that Trump's recent threat to impose tariffs on Mexico over illegal immigration would jeopardize the pact's passage by USA lawmakers.
