Barbara Corcoran says brother 'died of natural causes' in Dominican

Barbara Corcoran, a star of the reality TV show "Shark Tank", told TMZ that her brother recently died while vacationing at a resort in the Dominican Republic - one of several American tourists to sustain fatal or serious injuries there.

John, the retired owner of a roofing company based in New Jersey, traveled to the country with a friend in April for an annual vacation, Barbara told TMZ. At the time, John was waiting for his girlfriend to arrive, the outlet said.

While Corcoran said that, to her knowledge, no autopsy had been performed on her brother yet, three of the deaths under suspicion were also reported as heart attacks. He was said to be Barbara Corcoran's favorite of her nine siblings, a larger-than-life personality who was always the life of the party.

A representative for Barbara Corcoran confirmed the 64-year-old's death to NBC News, according to Today.

The news of his death comes as teams of experts and inspectors from several global agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, conduct tests at the Bahia Principe properties where some of USA tourists died.

But other family members soon came forward to stress that his death appeared to be from natural causes and was unrelated to the other deaths. "Dominican authorities cited almost identical conditions, including pulmonary edema - where the lungs fill with fluid - for several of them. But it's just a coincidence that it happened in the Dominican Republic like those other deaths".

Weirdly enough, six US travelers have been found dead in the country since June 2018: two were found at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana, while the remaining four were found at other Bahia Principe resorts.

However, the FBI has launched a joint investigation with local authorities in the Dominican Republic, NPR reported Wednesday . It is unclear at which resort John was staying.

On Sunday, Fox News learned that a California man, Robert Bell Wallace, died in his room in April after he fell critically ill at the all-inclusive Hard Rock resort in Punta Cana. Relatives of Yvette Monique Sport, 51, told Fox 29 Philadelphia she was visiting the popular tourist spot last June, had a drink, later went to bed, and never woke up.
