Over the years, gaming phones have been the first to embrace displays with higher refresh rates, with the Razer Phone and Razer Phone 2 both including a 120hz LCD screen.
Information regarding the ROG Phone 2's new display was reportedly confirmed by a post made from the brand's official Weibo account.
The original ROG Phone offered a 90Hz refresh rate via a full HD OLED screen, but it's unclear whether the new phone will use OLED or LCD technology to deliver 120Hz support.
As per the Google translation, the company announced that "Under the One Man" will perfectly fit the 120Hz screen of the ROG Phone 2 to provide a more delicate and refreshing fighting experience that will be better than the previous games. The original ROG Phone came with a 90Hz display (read the HotHardware review here), which placed it a step above the vast majority of smartphones which featured 60Hz displays upon its release.
Asus has recently announced a partnership with the Chinese Tencent Games to develop its upcoming Asus ROG Phone 2. The other two were the Razer Phone and Razer Phone unveiled in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
Other rumors point out that ROG Phone 2 will ship with the Snapdragon 855 paired with 12GB of RAM. There might also be an upgraded heat dissipation system and an increased charging speed as well. It has been published by Tencent and the company is expected to bring more games optimised for the ROG Phone 2, given it has partnered with Asus. Asus till now has refrained from providing an exact date for the launch and whether or not the device will come to India.
