LPGA rookie Jennifer Kupcho carded her third consecutive 67 on Saturday and is solo fifth in her third start as an LPGA Tour professional.

At the par-five 18, needing eagle to force the issue, she pushed her tee shot wide into the trees and had to punch it out into play and taking eagle out of the equation.

Thompson turned it around with four birdies on No. 10, 12, 13 and 15, closing in on the lead.

"That's really cool", Henderson said. "To shoot scores like that you have to have everything kind of working for you and you have to get some breaks along the way, too, which I did". However, a bogey at No. 16 dropped her to -21 and into just a tenuous one-stroke lead. Just trying to hit good shots and hopefully make a lot of birdies. "Then I looked at the leaderboard and it was really cramming up, getting packed".
