Xiaomi unveils smartphone vending machine Mi Express Kiosk in India

Are you excited about the launch of the vending machine launched by Xiaomi smartphones?

The new Xiaomi Mi Express Kiosks utilise a completely human-less interface and purchasing a Xiaomi smartphone or accessory from these Mi Express Kiosks is as easy as purchasing a cold drink. We're also imagining more Xiaomi products may be available.

The Mi Express Kiosk allows consumers to purchase smartphones and mobile accessories directly.

During the Redmi 7 and Redmi Y3 launch, Xiaomi India also announced the new retail stores called Mi Studios. While that was simply for restricted to Xiaomi HQ, the company is today announcing the same for metro Indian cities today, said the Chinese phone maker in a press release.

The kiosks are loaded with a camera on the top which to be precise is a Mijia Smart Camera to capture the faces of those who are making the purchases. They make it easy for the consumers to buy products and are created to accept all forms of payments including credit cards, debit cards, cash and UPI.

Vending machines are a marketing strategy that can be very effective when done right.

Initially, the Xioami Express Kiosks will be launched in the Metro Cities in India. The company will add more payment options after its availability. These Mi Express Kiosks will be strategically located in public places with high footfalls like tech parks, metro stations, airports, and shopping malls. The Mi Express Kiosks are especially cost-effective, as they require no salesperson or staff to be present and customers can operate the machine by themselves.

Also, the setting and operating costs are not at a higher side in comparison to having a proper outlet which makes Mi reach a wider consumer base and at the same time tackle the problem of having an adequate supply of their products in comparison to the demand. The company has so far not detailed out the locations of these vending machines but one that is active now is in Manyata Tech Park, Bengaluru.
