PowerBeats Pro headphones up for pre-order Friday 3rd May

Apple's sportiest wireless earphones are coming this week

The new PowerBeats Pro headphones will go on sale on Friday the 10th of May in Apple stores and also other retail stores.

Powerbeats Pro will initially be available only in Black.

Beats' hotly anticipated new true wireless earbuds, the Powerbeats Pro will be available to preorder from 7am PT, May 3 in the United States and Canada, according to a report by 9to5 Mac.

It has been tagged with a May release date before, and now there's a more specific launch day. The ivory, moss and navy models won't be available until summer, according to the fine print on Beats' site. It's the successor to the Powerbeats3 Wireless, coming in with audio and performance upgrades.

For instance, they have the same H1 chip, meaning they both support hands-free "Hey Siri" voice commands and have improved battery life compared with their predecessors and their W1 chips. The Powerbeats Pro earbuds feature hooks that wrap around the ear to allow for a secure and snug fit. It also has better noise isolation since it does have in-ear plugs.

Powerbeats Pro produces a super sonic sound, even though they are extremely small in size.

Beats confirmed that the Powerbeats Pro would be $249.95, a premium over the regular AirPods 2.

The major difference between the two wireless earpieces is their specific use; while the Apple AirPods 2 are build for casual music listening and phone calls, Powerbeats Pro are specially designed for hardcore work out music needs.

Not all's great. Battery life is 9 hours - less than the 12 hours on the Powerbeats 3, but more than the 5 hours you get with AirPods - and the charging case is big and bulky.
