Man Arrested While Roadtripping With Dead Wife's Body Riding Shotgun

Police: Video shows man moving wife's body from Texas hotel

The release said the deceased woman, identified later as Linda Puckett, was nude and the driver was dressed only in underwear.

Eloy police said in a statement that 70-year-old Rodney Puckett said Monday that 74-year-old Linda Puckett died at a hotel in Texas and that he put her body in their vehicle before continuing their trip. He said he moved her body into the vehicle and continued toward their destination.

The statement did not indicate where Puckett and his wife had been heading on their road trip, only that they had been driving along Interstate 10 in Arizona.

El Paso police spokesman Sgt. Enrique Carrillo said authorities there didn't receive any earlier reports of suspicious activity involving the couple.

An investigation was taking place to determine whether Linda Puckett's death was the result of a homicide, police said. The wife had filed for divorce on February 8, two days after a protective order against her husband had been granted, reported ABC.

Puckett, according to Eloy Police officials, has been booked into the Pinal County Jail on a charge of abandonment or concealment of a body, with additional charges possibly filed at a later date. Other charges may be added later.

An Oklahoma man was arrested in Arizona just a few weeks after police issued a Silver Alert for him. However, the Silver Alert was canceled after he was found in a Kansas jail. Rodney Puckett was wearing only underwear.

Eloy is about 65 miles southeast of Phoenix and about 50 miles northwest of Tucson. According to Eloy Police, it is now classified as a "death investigation".
