The industrialist brothers posted a 1.35 billion jump in their fortunes to rank at the top of The Sunday Times Rich List 2019.

The figures have led to calls for the super-rich to donate more to good causes.

The newspaper reported that the head of Coutts, the Queen's bank, said clients were more concerned with Corbyn than by Brexit and that a tax expert had helped a number of people with a net wealth of more than £500 million, totalling more than £5 billion, leave Britain over the past year.

However, he still came in third place in the richest Asians in Britain list with a net worth of £10.669bn and 11th in the overall richest people in the United Kingdom ranking.

The Hindujas made their $22billion fortune in oil, gas, IT, energy, media, banking, property and healthcare companies.

Every year, the Sunday Times calculates who are the richest people in Britain and release dozens of lists, according to identifiable wealth including land, property, other assets such as art, and shares in companies.

Brothers David and Simon Reuben - who made their fortune in property, carpets and scrap metal - are in second place on the list, with a combined wealth of £18.664bn.

The Rajasthan-born steel magnate logged an estimated fortune worth £10.66 billion previous year as he gets set to take control of his first steel plant in India with a purchase from Essar Steel. Similarly, Lady Charlotte Wellesley, came in second on the list with a fortune of £2.835bn due to her family's brewing portfolio. "But numerous rich are nursing big losses after a year of turbulence on the stock market and political deadlock in Westminster", writes Robert Watts, the compiler of the list. The group produces whisky including Grant's, Glenfiddich and The Balvenie, as well as Hendrick's gin.

Indian-born industrialist brother, Sri and Gopichand Hinduja, reclaimed the title of Britain's wealthiest by posting fortunes of 22 billion pounds to their name.

The richest sports star aged 30 or under was named as Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy. Zimbabwe-born Valerie Moran becomes the first black female entrepreneur ever to make the annual rich list, with a fortune of 122 million pounds from her financial technology business.

Musician Ed Sheeran doubled his wealth past year, while grime artist Stormzy made his debut on the rich list of young musicians with £16m.
