'Game of Thrones' documentary trailer

Kit Harington

Season 8 has seen a number of twists and turns, but what will the final episode reveal?

Made with unprecedented access, Game of Thrones: The Last Watch is an up-close and personal report from the trenches of production, following the crew and the cast as they contend with extreme weather, punishing deadlines and an ever-excited fandom hungry for spoilers. Something like that. Anyway, that's why watching footage of Game of Thrones' Kit Harington losing it in this new trailer for the show's upcoming documentary is just about to do us in.

Though GoT will be no more after May 19th-on May 26th, HBO is dropping Game of Thrones: The Last Watch. A week after the final credits roll, the platform is debuting a 2-hour documentary centered around the making of the final season - and they just debuted the official trailer Monday. Glimmer Films produced the project, and Thrones bosses D.B. Weiss and David Benioff served as executive-producers. Still, one thing no one is prepared for is how this historic season is about to end. The new trailer opens with a D.B. Weiss voiceover as we see shots of the actors (including Kit Harington) getting very emotional over the scripts: "This is odd", Weiss muses.

In a speech, D.B. Weiss says to the cast who have all been together for years at this point, "This is unusual". We see Emilia Clarke (Daenerys) hugging it out after her last shot.
