Shortly after the settlement was reached, Abdirzak's attorney wrote to the prosecutor to say the victim "had been made whole" by McGregor.
It is understood that Mr Abdirzak has returned to England and "will no longer be participating in the prosecution of Mr McGregor". In a statement, Madani also called into question the credibility issues of Abdirzak as they pursued the case against the Irishman. The 30-year-old grappler was previously charged with smashing a man's cell phone and then stealing it while in Florida this past March. McGregor was arrested in March following an altercation with a fan that included a phone being smashed.
A trial was due to go ahead on Monday at Miami-Dade County Court but the court's online system has recorded "nolle pros" next to the charges and the case will not proceed.
Defendant Ahmed Abdirzak dropped a civil suit against McGregor last month. Most recently McGregor has said that he's done with MMA, so if he wanted to try his hand at movies, now is as good a time as any.
