Cardinals’ Patrick Peterson suspended 6 games for PED use

Patrick Peterson suspended will miss opener against Lions

Peterson will miss games against the Lions, Ravens, Panthers, Seahawks, Bengals, and Falcons before rejoining the team. He will be eligible to return October 14, before Arizona's game against the New York Giants.

The league's performance-enhancing drug policy states that any player suspended for a violation "will be ineligible for selection to the Pro Bowl, or to receive any other honors or awards from the League or the Players Association".

"Patrick recognizes how disappointing this is for everyone in the organization as well as our fans". "As we all do, he understands that regardless of intent he is ultimately responsible for everything he puts in his body". Our coaching staff and our players.

In 2018, Peterson tallied 54 tackles with five passes defensed and two picks. The offseason addition of Terrell Suggs alongside Pro Bowler Chandler Jones up front, Haason Reddick on the second level, safety Budda Baker, and free-agent pickups Robert Alford and Tramaine Brock alongside Peterson at corner made a solid base for the Cardinals. It is unclear why the ban is for six games, as opposed to the standard four for a first-time offender.

Peterson also said that he's known about the impending suspension for months.

Peterson has never missed a game as a pro. His suspension might be the reason that hasn't happened yet.

With Peterson out of the lineup, Arizona's depth at cornerback obviously takes a huge hit.

Rookie Byron Murphy, a local product who was drafted 33rd overall out of Washington, is most likely to take on a bigger role during Peterson's six-game suspension. At this point, if they're to try and get anything for him, it'll be a late-round pick at best, a far cry from equal value for a talented player.
