Berchelt stops Vargas in 6th round to retain title

Emanuel Navarrete proved his first title win against Isaac Dogboe previous year was not a fluke as Navarrete won the rematch in even more impressive fashion.

And while Vargas landed his share of leather, his punches didn't have the same impact as Berchelt's.

Berchelt said he wants to fight the victor of a 130-pound bout between Masayuki Ito and Jamel Herring.

Isaac Dogboe's hope of reclaiming his WBO world super bantamweight belt proved futile as he was stopped by Emanuel Navarette on Saturday, May 11, 2019, in Arizona, USA. "More importantly, I want to thank Francisco "Bandito" Vargas". Hes a true Mexican warrior, and more than anything, let me tell you, he gave me my first opportunity at a world title. Making that decision is never easy, but it was the right thing for Diaz to do in order to protect Vargas, who was perhaps too courageous for his own good.

"What I want is to defend my title and afterwards we will see, there are great champions like Masayuki Ito, there is Tevin Farmer, Gervonta Davis". So, it was only fair that I would give him a shot to win his world title back. After the fight, he declared he wants the victor of Masayuki Ito and Jamel Herring, who square off in two weeks on May 25 for Ito's WBO belt. Navarrete scored a knockdown in the 12th round and following the knockdown, Dogboe's trainer stepped to the canvas and threw in the towel.

At the time of the stoppage, two of the judges had Navarrete ahead 109-99, with the third judge scoring it 109-98.

Super lightweight Mykal Fox picked up the biggest win of his career defeating previously unbeaten 2016 light welterweight Olympic Gold medalist Fazliddin_Gaibnazarov via a ten-round decision. Castro knocked down Diaz in the second round and kept him at bay with his 70-inch reach. "But this is my title, and no one is going to take it from me", Castro said My next step is to keep working hard and to move closer to a world title shot.

Below are 10 pictures from the bout. Marriaga dusted himself off and continued his withering body attack until Cervera decided not to continue after Round 3.
