American Airline Pilot Charged 2015 Kentucky Triple Murder

American Airlines said the accused worked for subsidiary PSA Airlines

In a statement Saturday, the Kentucky attorney general said Martin was responsible for the November 2015 deaths of husband and wife Calvin and Pamela Phillips, and Edward Dansereau, all of whom were his neighbors at the time. Calvin Phillips was found shot dead in his Kentucky home, while Pamela Phillips' and Danserau's bodies were found in Pamela's burned vehicle in a cornfield a few miles away from Calvin's home.

The victims' families welcomed the news in a joint statement through the attorney general's office. The bodies of Pamela Phillips, 58, and Dansereau, 63, were found a few miles away in a cornfield inside her burned auto.

Calvin Phillips and Martin's former wife, Joan Harmon, had obtained from Martin and turned over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation some photos of a victim and some military discs labeled "secret.", Matt Phillips said.

John Kelly, a representative for the Phillips family, told CNN that Calvin Phillips was scheduled to testify against Martin.

The child rape charges were later dropped against Martin, who has three children, and he was convicted of two counts of mishandling of classified material and two counts of assault of a child.

American Airlines told me Saturday that Martin had undergone a background check, which would apparently would have been handled by the Transportation Security Administration, and that there hadn't been anything that came up that would have disqualified him from being a pilot. American Airlines wholly-owns PSA Airlines, which operates an all-jet American Eagle fleet, the company told WDRB.

Passengers thought the pilot of their American Airlines flight may have failed a random drug and alcohol test but were shocked to find it was far more sinister. "We will provide any investigative assistance possible to law enforcement throughout their investigation".

The pilot has been placed on administrative suspension pending the outcome of the investigation, the airline said.

A spokeswoman for American Airlines said Martin has worked as a pilot for PSA Airlines, an American subsidiary, since 2018.

His arrest happened in front of airport staffers and patrons.

Martin was still wearing his pilot's uniform in his mugshot.

But the idea that Martin had been flying passengers for going on a year and a half is perplexing to say the least.

"It was very tense", Frances Wise, Ashley's mother, said.

The son of the couple who died spoke out Sunday.

The case will be prosecuted by Attorney General Andy Beshear's Special Prosecutions Unit. He and Calvin Phillips were also connected through a 2016 court martial case, the Leaf-Chronicle in Clarksville, Tennessee, reported.

The Christian County Detention Center website shows Martin facing charges of Murder, Arson, Burglary and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

"He was anxious that the case was stalled and was anxious that justice would not come", Beshear said in a video statement released on Saturday.
