The smaller "budget friendly" Nintendo Switch will launch this fall

The smaller

It has teamed up with Nintendo in the past, with Tencent releasing its Arena of Valor game overseas on the Switch. The second model, according to the WSJ report, would be a more expensive, "enhanced" version of the system with improved hardware power and other special features.

As per the Wall Street Journal's report, the Nintendo Switch Lite and Pro were to be made available following the Nintendo E3 2019 presentation in June. It will also be dockable like the current Switch model, so you can continue your video game on your TV.

Authorities in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong gave the green light on Thursday to Tencent Holdings to distribute the Nintendo Switch console with a test version of the "New Super Mario Bros".

The Verge reports that a cheaper version of the Nintendo Switch gaming console will be released later this year.

THAT SMALLER, CHEAPER SWITCH we mentioned back in February? This report doesn't explicitly suggest that we couldn't still see both models before December.

The company reportedly halted work on the tech before December previous year, and it may have been stopped long before that too.

In other news gleaned from this report, Nintendo's plans to release a sleep monitoring device as part of its "Quality of Life" business have been halted, though the paper stops short of explaining the cause behind this cancellation.

One of Nikkei's sources said they have heard the company wasn't able to produce a "Nintendo-like product" with the technology that was developed so it was cancelled.
