Oregon's Sabrina Ionescu wins John Wooden Award for player of the year

Ionescu posted 19.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and a Pac-12-leading 8.1 assists per game while leading OR to a 33-5 record and the Final Four.

Unlike Williamson, Ionescu will get the chance to repeat for the Wooden Award next year after spurning the 2019 WNBA draft, where she would have been the likely No. 1 overall pick.

Canadian RJ Barrett of Duke has won the Jerry West Award as the nation's top shooting guard at the College Basketball Awards on Friday.

The Duke superstar was named the victor of the 2019 Wooden Award, joining Kevin Durant and Anthony Davis as the only freshmen to ever win the Player of the Year honor. "The brotherhood is something real".

Ionescu is the first Wooden Award victor in Oregon's history.

She was also the Wade Trophy victor this season and was named the Nancy Lieberman best point-guard in the nation award two years in a row. While Reddish and Barrett have already declared for the draft, Williamson continued to be coy about his future, including a couple of hilarious exchanges at the awards show like this.

Tre Jones has announced he is returning to school.

The Blue Devils were the top seed in March Madness this season but ultimately fell to Michigan State in the Elite Eight.

All of the award namesakes were on hand to present their trophies except Cousy, who is 90.

Oklahoma coach Lon Kruger received the Wooden Legends of Coaching award from Steve Henson, his former player at Kansas State and current Texas-San Antonio coach.

The individual awards were decided by a combination of fan votes and input from the Basketball Hall of Fame's selection committee.
