The Patriots will once again enter a new National Football League season as the defending Super Bowl champs, coming off their 13-3 victory over the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LIII.
In New England, Thomas will reunite with Josh McDaniels, the head coach who drafted him out of Georgia Tech back in 2010. Thomas, 31, was released by the Texans in February. In February, Thomas was involved in a one-vehicle auto accident in which two of his passengers were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Thomas recently pleaded guilty to a careless driving charge in connection to a February vehicle crash, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Thomas, who visited the Pats last week, had some big years with the Broncos, including a span of five straight seasons with at least 90 catches and 1,000 yards.
After Week 8 last season, the Broncos traded Thomas to the Houston Texans in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick. He was injured in the regular-season finale and was placed on injured reserve for the playoffs. He has also played in seven postseason games with two starts and has added 11 total tackles, one sack, one pass defensed and five special teams tackles. His season came to an end in Week 16 as a result of a torn Achilles, so it remains to be seen how well he recovers from the devastating injury.
Thomas has an additional 53 receptions and six touchdowns in his 10 career playoff games.
