Netflix has caught the eyes of various television visionaries like Shonda Rhimes and Ryan Murphy, with deals worth $100 million and $250 million, respectively, and top comedians like Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle ($40 million and $60 million, respectively). HBO declined to comment on the announcement and Netflix did not respond on the matter.
The streaming service made a three-project deal with Beyonce, worth $60 million.
Beyonce served as executive producer, writer and director of the project, which reportedly brought in around $20 million.
HBO also showed interest in airing Homecoming on its platform, but Netflix, reportedly placed a higher bid on the project, Vulture reported earlier this week.
Coinciding with the release of Homecoming, the singer surprised fans with a 40-track album, that also includes two bonus studio songs - Before I Let Go and I Been On.
And there's more music on its way: Variety recently revealed that the audio to her Lemonade film, which had only been available on Jay-Z's subscription service Tidal, will be available on all streaming services beginning April 23.
