Acer announced the Predator Helios 700 with a magnificent HyperDrift keyboard

Predator Helios 700- 01

In terms of CPU, it can be obtained with the upcoming 9th Gen Intel Core processor as well as up to Intel Core i7-8750H in certain markets. On the surface, the Helios 700 might look like your garden variety gaming laptop, with its beefy build and its RGB keyboard.

With all this power and cooling under the hood, the Acer Predator Helios 700 felt like a capable gaming laptop during my short hands-on time with it.

Acer is revamping its budget gaming line with the Acer Nitro 5 and Nitro 7. "They are innovative, future-proof and reliable thanks to advanced thermal technologies that keep them cool during intense gaming sessions". The 500 unit has up to 9th gen Core processors and up to Quadro RTX 4000 GPUs.

Taiwanese computer maker Acer wants to lure the well-heeled design crowd with its new range of ConceptD computers, which include multiple notebooks, two desktops, 4K monitors, and a Windows 10 Mixed Reality headset. By default, the keyboard and its touchpad area are where you'd normally expect to see them in a gaming laptop - toward the back, near the speakers.

The mobile versions include the ConceptD 5, ConceptD 7 and ConceptD 9 all of which contain Intel processors ranging from the Kaby Lake-G with AMD's Radeon RX Vega M GL in the ConceptD 5 to the ConceptD 5 which contains an unspecified 9th Gen Core i9 and a full GeForce RTX 2080, no MaxQ for this mobile workstation.

The Helios 700 incorporates a 1080p panel at 144Hz and 3ms response time which is much more sensible than a 4K 60Hz panel found on a lot of modern laptops. The keyboard and trackpad can both be expanded, in which the former reveals Acer's 4th Gen AeroBlade 3D Technology - its cooling system - and the latter can function as an arm rest. The glass panel also provides a view of the notebook's heat pipes.

The keyboard itself also happens to be a new invention from Acer called "MagForce", which might make it seem like it's the brand's first magnetically-driven keyboard, but it actually uses analog-like linear switches. It's powered by a 9th Gen Core i7 processor and either a RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU or an RTX 2060, although storage and RAM options are on par with the ConceptD 9. The metal chassis now features teal blue accents, new keyboard with "Predator" fonts, and a narrow bezel around the display.

Aside from new desktops and high refresh rate monitors, Acer's event today also featured plenty of new laptops. But numerous most notable ones, including the ConceptD lineup, will become available in stages from June until the end of this year. This latest generation fan design was inspired by bionic silent owl flight mechanics that maximize airflow and minimize noise. These fans are 0.1mm thick and use a serrated edge along the top and bottom with a curved fin on the inner side of each fan blade. Coupled with strategically placed intake and exhaust vents and Acer CoolBoost technology, the Helios 300 stays calm under pressure and handles intense overclocked gaming sessions easily. It's added a completely new feature that no one has done before, and that everyone will love because it solves a problem in an elegant and fun way. It'll be available over the summer in the U.S. and Europe from $2,229 and €2,299, respectively.

The Predator Helios 700 gaming notebooks will be available in North America in April starting at United States dollars 2,699.99; in EMEA in July starting at Euro 2,699.00.

The ConceptD 5 starts at $1,699 and €1,699 and also will be available over the summer. The details, availability and pricing for the laptops are as follows.

The Acer Predator Helios 300 and 700 is the top of the line gaming laptop from the company, which is claimed to offer desktop grade performance. For more information, visit www.acer.com/nextatacer. While the Acer Nitro 7 is an entirely new laptop, which according to the company, is targeted towards casual gamers. The laptop was unveiled alongside a slew of other gaming products.
