Gov. Jim Justice and Senator Joe Manchin, speaking separately on MetroNews' "Talkline", confirmed a major investment at West Virginia's Toyota plant.

Toyota officials said the expansion boosts the plant's capacity to produce hybrid transaxles. This donation is part of Toyota's focus on building the future workforce.

Toyota said it will exceed a 2017 pledge to invest $10 billion over five years with a new commitment to reach almost $13 billion over the same period, including Thursday's announcement.

Toyota says its latest investment will create 586 new jobs.

Toyota said it will invest $288 million in Alabama to increase annual engine capacity from 670,000 to 900,000 by the end of 2021 and will add new 4-cylinder and V6 engine lines.

A $50 million expansion and equipment upgrade at a Bodine plant in Jackson, Tennessee, will add 13 jobs and produce engine blocks while doubling the capacity of hybrid transaxle cases and housings. The senator said 230 employers will be represented at the job fair from 11 3 p.m. Friday, March 22, at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.

Toyota's Georgetown plant will build the hybrid Rav4 crossover SUV and the hybrid Lexus ES in a $238 million new investment, company officials revealed Thursday.

The company plans to begin increasing production in May, starting with the Lexus ES Hybrid.

"Today's exciting announcement shows Toyota's recognition and continued trust in the high-level skills and expertise of our fantastic team here in Kentucky", said Toyota Kentucky President Susan Elkington. It builds on capacity that was first announced two years ago.

Toyota has big plans in America, and to accomplish them it will be investing $749 million into its various United States manufacturing facilities in addition to creating jobs for 586 people according to a report published Thursday by Reuters.

"In West Virginia, Toyota represents more than just good jobs". We are immensely proud that the Bluegrass State is home to Toyota's largest manufacturing operation, and we enthusiastically support this substantial investment to address the rising demand for hybrid vehicles. "By boosting our USA manufacturing footprint, we can better serve our customers and dealers and position our manufacturing plants for future success with more domestic capacity".
