The Prodigy’s Keith Flint Dead at 49

Keith Flint of The Prodigy dead at 49

Singer Keith Flint, the vocalist of The Prodigy band, was found dead at his home in Essex on Monday. "We attended and, sadly, a 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene", a spokesman told the Guardian. "His next of kin have been informed", the statement added. They said the death was being treated as non-suspicious and a file would be sent to the coroner - standard practice in cases of violent or unexplained deaths.

The group's last album, "No Tourists", was released in November ahead of its announcement that the band would be touring festivals in Europe and South America this year.

Born Keith Charles Flint on September 17, 1969 in east London, he moved to Braintree, Essex as a child, where he met co-founder Liam Howlett at a nightclub.

"You made me feel welcome in a time when I needed it. Thanks for all the laughs my friend".

Known for his fluorescent spiked hair and energetic performances, Keith performed vocals on the band's number one singles, Firestarter and Breathe.

"A true pioneer, innovator and legend" they wrote.

Though he was originally a dancer for the band, Keith was called in to sing for the hit single Firestarter.

Keith married DJ Mayumi Kai in 2006, following his previous romance with TV presenter Gail Porter in the nineties.

Flint was a keen motorcyclist, with his own motorcycle team, Team Traction Control, which competes in the British Supersport Championship.

The Glastonbury Festival organiser has paid tribute to the "incredible frontman" and revealed the band were set to play Somerset festival this year.

The Prodigy are scheduled to go on a United States tour later this year, and they are also due to perform at London's South West Four festival in August. We urge anyone experiencing any or all of these to ask a friend or family member for help or to seek assistance.

Producer Paul Oakenfold wrote, "Los Angeles, I just woke up and heard the awful news of Keith Flint".

The Chemical Brothers' Ed Simons remembered him as "a great man" who was "always great fun to be around".
