Nelson was the Raiders' No. 1 wide receiver at the end of last season, and the team paid him a $3.6 million bonus late in 2018. Nelson was largely overlooked last season after a slow start, but would rebound with 38 catches over the last five weeks of 2018, third most in the National Football League over that time. He finished the season ranked third on the team with 63 receptions and second with 739 yards receiving, adding three touchdown receptions. From Weeks 6-10, Nelson caught only five passes for 36 yards.
Nelson's 64 yards from scrimmage previous year were a career-low for him after he had 299, 568 and 508 in his first three seasons, respectively.
He would have seen his base salary of $3 million for 2019 become fully guaranteed on Sunday, and he had a salary-cap number of more than $5.368 million.
The only other quarterback employed by the Raiders is Nathan Peterman, who's signed to a reserve/future contract.
Williams signed a deal worth $47 million with $22 million guaranteed, a source told Schefter.
Dolphins Trade Ryan Tannehill To Titans
The Titans' current quarterback is the oft-injured Marcus Mariota , the former second-overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft . Miami will get a 2020 fourth round pick and a seventh round pick in this year's draft in exchange for Tannehill .
Chiefs release safety Eric Berry
The move to release Berry comes on the heels of the Chiefs releasing linebackers Justin Houston and Dee Ford . He tore his Achilles' tendon in the 2017 opener, sidelining him the rest of the season.
