Clinton was attending a vigil in NY to honor the victims when students berated her and recorded the confrontation.
The student who uploaded the video, Rose Asaf, also asked people to support her and the woman who harassed Clinton at the vigil via Venmo.
"This, right here, is a result of a massacre stoked by people like you and the words that you put out into the world", one student told Clinton, according to a video of the confrontation.
Trump, Jr.is likely referring to a Tweet Clinton wrote in February in which she criticized comments from Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) which sparked controversy both inside and outside of the Democratic party, as lawmakers and the public, alike, debated over whether the congresswoman's remarks were anti-Semitic. The son of President Donald Trump, 72, didn't hesitate to speak his mind in his tweet and even suggested praise for Chelsea.
Clinton never did say anything hateful about Muslims, nor did she attack Muslims in any way. I do believe that words matter. "I believe we have to show solidarity", Clinton told the angry students.
Reaction on social media to the students' treatment of Clinton shows how this tragedy is being viewed across the political landscape. The tragedy came just a week after the U.S. House voted on a resolution condemning hate speech, inspired by Omar's comments.
Clinton was among the many prominent voices denouncing Omar for her remarks on Israel, which were deemed anti-Semetic by many USA political figures. "Anyone who doesn't understand that is part of the problem", he tweeted. "I know people are upset by the video but I urge all to move on", Tanden tweeted.
Omar, a freshman Democratic representative of Minnesota and practicing Muslim, stirred up controversy last month when she criticized Israel's treatment of Palestinians, saying that lobbyists paid US officials to support Israeli policies.
"Forty-nine people are dead because of the rhetoric that you put out there", she charged.
"I'm so sorry that you feel that way".
"It's all about the Benjamins baby", Omar said in a since-deleted Tweet responding to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy's announcement he would take action against Omar and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Michigan) for being critical of the Jewish state.
