Mourinho: Perfect reunion for Zidane and Real Madrid

Gareth Bale and Zinedine Zidane

With 11 LaLiga Santander games to go until the end of the season, Real Madrid midfielder Isco has indicated that the transition into the new Zinedine Zidane era has already started at Los Blancos.

The right footed player, who can fill in at either right back or in central defense, has signed a six-year deal to take him to Real Madrid until the end of June 2025 and is thought to have cost in the region of 50 million euros (1 euro = 1.13 United States dollars).

The Brazilian only joined Porto from Sao Paulo last summer for €4 million.

According to WhoScored's data, Militao is a well-rounded centre-back, whose strengths include aerial duels, dribbling, tackling and interceptions.

The report from Sport even states that Madrid do not want to keep him, regardless.

Senior figures such as Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Toni Kroos are all approaching or have reached the age of 30, while captain Ramos and Luka Modrić are 32 and 33 respectively.

The same article states that Zidane has been given complete control of transfers at the 13-time Champions League winners following his return to Real Madrid.

With Real out of the Champions League and Copa del Rey and sitting third in La Liga, 12 points behind leaders Barcelona, the only goal for the remainder of the season is for Zidane to assess which players he wants to keep as he plots the team's comeback in the next campaign.

The draw for the quarter-finals and semi-finals will take place on Friday.
