NSW Police said the confrontation happened on Wednesday when the 43-year-old man got out of his auto in the driveway of his home in Nimbin, in the north of the state.
An Australian man used his smartphone as a shield to block an arrow that was sacked at him during a skirmish, according to police.
Police say the suspect fired the arrow at the resident which punctured the man's cell phone.
The attacker then fired an arrow but it hit the resident's smartphone and pierced it. The arrow hit the iPhone, and the man remained majorly unharmed.
Once the resident exited his auto, he noticed another man, who was known to him, standing outside his property armed with a bow and arrow. The phone smashed into the resident's chin and caused a small cut but did not require medical treatment.
NSW Police confirmed in a statement that officers were called to the 43-year-old's Nimbin home at around 9am yesterday following the alleged altercation.
Police later arrested a 39-year-old man at the scene, where he has since been charged with assault and damage offences.
The attacker was granted conditional bail and will have to appear in court in April.
