Game of Thrones Final Season Episode Runtimes Are Shorter Than You Thought

Source HBO

HBO has officially confirmed the runtimes for the six episodes that will make up Game of Thrones final season. But HBO finally revealed another tidbit in a press release Friday: how long the episodes will be.

Episode 3, which airs April 28, will be the longest of the season at 1 hour, 22 minutes. The season's six episodes felt more like "six movies" than they did a set of TV episodes, he insisted, which many people took to be a reference to their length. Episode four, Sunday May 5, is back down to an hour and 18 minutes, but episode five on Sunday, May 12 is back up to an hour and 20 minutes.

Episode One will air on Sunday, April 14 and be 54 minutes long.

The reputable fan site Watchers on the Wall have confirmed that the domain of House Stark will be the main setting for the third episode and this is supported by a previous interview that Vladimir Furdik (The Night King) gave to the Hungarian news website Sorozat Wiki, as translated by a native speaker at Mashable.

Episode 6, the series finale, airs Sunday, May 19 at 9 p.m. E.T. Yet not quite the "feature film" length that some fans had been hoping for.

Unless you're willing to stay up into the early hours of Monday morning, as season 8 will be simulcast. We can't wait to see what Game of Thrones season 8 has in store, but you can bet that you won't be left wanting after the credits roll for the last time. The live simulcast of the first episode will kick off at 2am on April 15, if we're being exact.
