Ex-Attorneys General Call For RCMP Probe Into SNC-Lavalin Affair

Ellis weighs in on SNC Lavalin fallout

"Ms. Wilson-Raybould was elected and continues to serve as the Liberal Member of Parliament for Vancouver Granville", her office said in an email.

"To have the honour to represent the people who preserve peace and democracy for us worldwide, that's a long piece from a demotion", he said.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau shuffled his cabinet on Friday after Jody Wilson-Raybould resigned from Veteran's Affairs last month.

Wilson-Raybould testified on Wednesday that when she was justice minister previous year, officials in the Liberal government leaned on her to help construction firm SNC-Lavalin Group Inc avoid a corruption trial.

She said she faced a "sustained effort" and "veiled threats" to negotiate an out-of-court settlement with the company to avoid damaging the Liberals' political prospects in Quebec.

The pressure began right at the top, Wilson-Raybould said, starting with Trudeau, his top adviser Gerald Butts and the country's most senior bureaucrat Michael Wernick.

"I haven't yet had the opportunity to review her entire testimony", Trudeau said earlier this week.

Goodale said he's hoping there can be "some kind of reconciliation" with Wilson-Raybould but isn't sure that's possible.

"'Undue pressure' was placed on former Attorney General (Wilson-Raybould) by political actors urging her to exercise her authority to overrule the director of public prosecutions", says the letter, dated February 28.

MacAulay, Bibeau and Monsef told reporters they will support Trudeau's decision when he determines whether Wilson-Raybould stays in the Liberal caucus after her public criticisms of the way she was treated by Trudeau and his staff.

The website says individuals who are registered to lobby the Prime Minister's Office and Ministry of Agriculture and Agri-Food are not permitted to attend the fundraising event.

Wilson's remark has prompted the leader of the opposition Conservatice Party to demand Prime Minister's resignation.
