Reuters reports that "A source" disclosed to it that the top streamer, whose real name is Tyler Blevins, enjoyed the bumper pay-day in return for streaming Respawn's free-to-play battle royale game to his 13 million Twitch followers.
Ninja, who appeared on the cover of ESPN magazine last September, made almost $10 million previous year, and told CNN he makes over $500,000 on a "good month". EA paid some of Twitch's biggest streamers to play the game in order to get it on the trending page, including Ninja. To use the loophole, go to the "Properties" of the game in Origin, select "Advanced launch settings" and write "+ debug_force_EAAccess 1" in the command line field, then go to Apex Legends.
Understandably, there's a lot of excitement around Apex Legends and with the immenent release of the Battle Pass soon players are hungry for information on new content.
There have always been questions over this sort of sponsored content, particularly when it comes to influencers not disclosing payments, but EA said it has a policy in place to address this.
Respawn has been relatively quiet so far about exactly what to expect from its first battle pass, so if this leak holds up it's the most detail we've heard yet.
Both had stream graphics that indicated they were part of an "Apex Legends partner" program, but during the time I watched them, neither outlined the exact specifics of what this program entailed. The reason why Ninja was so fast to play Apex Legends is because EA has reportedly paid him one million dollars!
"If you needed any more proof that the battle pass was supposed to come out on 12th, Apex Servers attempt to distribute Unreleased (Season 1) content in Apex Packs but fail because the associated item hasn't been patched in yet", reads a tweet from Shrugtal (check it out below).
