Arsenal 3-0 Rennes: Unai Emery's side complete their Europa League comeback

Unmasked- Pierre Emerick Aubameyang of Arsenal celebrates one of his two goals

Ismaila Sarr scored the third goal for his side last week but the Rennes winger struggled to make a positive impression in the second leg.

The Gunners are into the quarterfinals after the 3-0 result saw them win the tie 4-3 on aggregate.

Trailing 3-1 after the first leg Aubameyang got Arsenal off to the ideal start in the first five minutes, turning home Aaron Ramsey's cross.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave Arsenal some early hope with a goal after just four minutes, when Aaron Ramsey was found by Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who in turn found the Gabon global with a cute low cross, who did the rest from a few yards out.

Aubameyang opened the scoring five minutes in when poking home an Aaron Ramsey cross, coming after some good link-up play between the Welshman and Maitland-Niles down the right.

ARSENAL (3-4-1-2): Cech, Mustafi, Koscielny, Monreal, Maitland-Niles, Xhaka, Ramsey (Torreira 87), Kolasinac; Ozil (Mkhitaryan 69); Lacazette (Iwobi 69), Aubameyang.

The north London outfit needed a 2-0 win at least to progress - and they went one step further at the Emirates in a 3-0 win.

For their part, Rennes grew into the match a little more following a sluggish start and tested Petr Cech before half time through a long-range strike from Hatem Ben Arfa.

Goals: Aubameyang 5, 72, Maitland-Niles 15.

The Gabonese striker then proceeded to celebrate by putting on a Black Panther mask, which he was duly booked for by the referee. Having been linked with a move to Arsenal at the end of this season, Sarr did not seize his opportunity to shine, with a hopeful shot in the sixth minute of added time his only notable contribution.

- The Gunners have kept four consecutive clean sheets at home in European competition for the first time since April 2009 (six in total in that run).
