Unidentified Man Claims Jussie Smollett is Lying About Attack

Jussie Smollett's neighbors cast doubt on his attack story

Chicago police are finally in possession of Jussie Smollett's phone records, as they attempt to locate the perpetrators of a brutal assault.

According to TMZ, the Chicago Police Department has rejected the file that was sent by Jussie Smollett because it was reportedly redacted from its original form.

The investigation into the attack on Jussie Smollett continues.

Smollett initially told police that during the attack he was on the phone with his manager, and his manager claims to have heard part of the attack - making him the only known witness. Then, hours later, there were two "persons of interest" on video. Jussie has voluntarily provided his phone records from within an hour of the attack and given multiple statements to police. "However, the records provided do not meet the burden for a criminal investigation, as they were limited and heavily redacted", police told WBBM in an email. He reportedly told police that the men used racial and homophobic slurs before beating him, pouring what may have been bleach onto him, and leaving a noose around his neck before proclaiming, "This is MAGA country", as they left.

Rob Elgas of WLS-TV in Chicago reported that "when Smollett contacted police at 2:42AM, he was still wearing the rope around his neck".

"I've been in this neighborhood five years".

In New York, reporters for the New York Post have spoken to the actor's neighbors, who doubt the attack actually took place.

"I don't believe it happened the way he said it did". I don't believe it, not around here ... "They were limited and redacted but detectives will analyze them". "They have cameras everywhere".

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said that police are still treating Smollett as the victim of a crime, but he will be held accountable if he's found to have made a false police report, journalist Rafer Weigel tweeted earlier this month.

Elgas added that Chicago police have a security image of Smollett alone inside a Subway sandwich shop near the location of the reported crime, and that cops also obtained additional video placing him at the scene of the crime.

Another anonymous individual, who says he's a regular at a nearby bar says, "It's a lie, because Chicago is the most liberal city around".

"We are continuing to work closely with the Chicago PD and remain confident that they will find Jussie's attackers and bring them to justice".
